Rebekah loves to help with the housework. She loves to put dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Closing the blinds at the end of the day is a must. She enjoys climbing into the dryer to throw the clean clothes out onto the floor. This is helpful in her mind. It is now Rebekah's job to throw away nasty diapers. If you hand her a swiffer she is entertained for hours (really just minutes, but for a two year old that is great). She assists in recycling and crushing cans. Yesterday when we got home from the library Rebekah instantly went to the empty trash cans by the side of the road and started placing the lids on. When I got there she said, "I a good helper!" Seeing who Rebekah is becoming and glimpses of who she will be is amazing!

We have had a very busy and exciting couple of weeks. It began when Rebekah suddenly became very ill and had trouble breathing. It turned out to be Strep and pneumonia. She had a couple of shots and prescriptions along with daily breathing treatments. She is all better now. It came on very fast and really gave us a scare. Then, Rebekah turned two. I still can't believe my baby girl is already two. Her Grandma, Papa, Gram, Aunt Becky and favorite dog, Liota, all came for a visit to help celebrate her birthday. On Saturday we had a Chefs in Pampers party. Although it was a lot of work, I think all the kids had a great time. They rolled out dough and made their own pizzas. Then, after playing and eating pizza they decorated their own cupcakes. Bekah is a culinary genius already. Finally, on Sunday we were in a parade with some of our new friends. It was the Edison junior parade. The real parade is this coming weekend. Now, we are resting.

Rebekah is two years old. Right now as she sits crying on the "naughty" mat, I can really tell. Other times it seems impossible. I know this is so very cliche, but time has just flown. Pete and I are constantly amazed by how quickly Rebekah learns things; I know this is the same for all first time parents. We have also discovered some of our own idiosyncrasies as Rebekah mimics everything. I apparently say "um, um" way too often. Pete says "Oh my goodness," on a regular basis. Rebekah is a strong minded, strong willed, bold child. However, other times she is gentle, empathetic and kind. We are so very blessed. I am thankful "I have my hands full," as people will offer from time to time. Try as I may not to be a bragging blogger, I can't resist. Rebekah truly is amazing. She uses past tense correctly, adds ing on occasion and inserts adjectives for fun. Rebekah sings and writes her own lyrics. She loves to dance and jump and climb. She is observant and curious. Best of all, Rebekah loves to laugh. At times we will just look at each other and giggle for minutes. We love her and can't have chosen a more perfect child to raise. That is not saying she is perfectly behaved, quite ornary actually. I am just saying when we finally let God take over, His plan was perfect. I was just interrupted by a sweet voice saying, "Look Mommy!" Rebekah skated across the tile floor on two tupperware lids. Genius!
